Founded in May 2000, YouGov is a professional market research agency pioneering the use of the Internet and information technology to collect higher-quality in-depth data for market research and public consultation from our panel of over 200,000 people.

YouGov has pro-actively recruited respondents from all ages, socio economic groups and regions of Britain. The sample for each survey is carefully selected and controlled so that it is representative of the adult population as a whole - or the specific audience that the survey is designed to measure.

Because of our online data collection methodology, YouGov's data is of higher quality and our cost base is lower than that required by the use of conventional market research techniques. YouGovSiraj

YouGovSiraj LogoYouGov moved into the Middle East region at the request of HSBC Middle East in 2004. YouGov built a specialist panel of business men and women across the GCC (Gulf Co-operation Council) and established the first Middle East Business Confidence Index (MEBCI). On the back of this success we established YouGovME on 25 July 2005, a subsidiary business that was financially backed by local partners and of which YouGov holds 78%. Contracts have been won with a range of clients including PR companies, governmental organisations, media partners and large multinational companies with operations in the region.

On 30 July 2006 YouGovME acquired Siraj. Siraj was a traditional market research agency, offering qualitative and quantitative market research to a host of blue chip clients. This acquisition was highly complementary, further enhancing YouGov's position as the fastest growing market research agency in the Middle East.

In line with our commitment to online research we have been developing our panel in the Middle East and now have a representative panel in excess of 75,000 people across the region.

YouGovAlpha

YouGovAlpha LogoYouGovAlpha was formed in August 2007 as a result of the cessation of the joint venture with Execution Ltd, YouGovExecution. YouGovAlpha will continue to use primary research to gain insights into the performance of sectors and companies ahead of trading statements and publicly available information. YouGovAlpha undertakes bespoke projects for individual clients and syndicated research projects for a limited number of subscribers. The projects are naturally limited to preserve the competitive edge the customer gains from the research. The primary target markets for the research are CEO's of listed companies and the wider investment community.

YouGovStone

YouGovStone LogoYouGovStone is a 51:49 joint venture between YouGov plc and Carole Stone, London's 'Queen of networking'. The announcement of this joint venture came on 10 April 2007. Carole brings to the venture her legendary network of prominent social and industry commentators whilst contributing her proven ability to put these people from many different worlds together to debate current matters of mutual interest to the advantage of everyone.

YouGovStone is developing Carole's highly successful networking business to create its own opinion leader specialist panels to undertake bespoke research. YouGovStone is also expanding YouGov's existing Think Tank product of top level opinion formers who at present come together four times a year to consider and provide feedback on the most important issues facing the country.

YouGovCentaur is developing specialist panels covering Centaur's key markets, which include marketing, legal, financial services and engineering. The panels and the related research will be drawn from a combination of YouGov's proven market research capabilities and panel building skills and Centaur's unparalleled market access to these sectors. YouGovCentaur will look to offer the unique insights offered by these syndicated and customised research products to offer Centaur's extensive contacts in each of its markets.

psychonomics

Psychonomics LogoYouGov announced the acquisition of psychonomics on 27 July 2007. psychonomics was incorporated in 1992 and has its head office in Cologne with offices in Vienna and Berlin. The company is a multi service traditional research agency that offers market research and consultancy services across a range of sectors and specialises in the insurance, financial services and healthcare sectors.

psychonomics has a history of consistent growth in revenue and earnings and has a client base of multinational corporations such as Allianz, Bayer, L'Oreal and Siemens. It is now placed in the top 10 German market research agencies (based on 2006 revenue). Germany is the third largest market research market in the world, after the US and the UK, and the acquisition of psychonomics will provide a hub for YouGov's continued expansion into mainland Europe. The acquisition is an opportunity to rollout the existing YouGov product base such as Omnibus and BrandIndex into the German market.

Zapera

Zapera LogoYouGov announced the acquisition of Zapera on 7 August 2007. Zapera is an online research agency with offices in Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Norway and specialises in healthcare, pharmaceutical and brand research. The group, whose products include BrandMeter and ImageMeter, provides online quantitative and qualitative research. With a panel of over 125,000 people in the Nordic/Baltic region, including specialist panels in various sectores such as the medical sector. Zapera is able to undertake research in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Poland, Estonia and Russia. The company has a client base of regional companies such as SAS and multinationals such as Kellogs.

Zapera is a proven company which utilises online research and the Directors believe that Zapera's online expertise and products can be leveraged to develop and roll-out new innovations and products into YouGov's expansion plans. The Zapera acquisition represents an opportunity for YouGov to expand internationally into the Nordic/Baltic region and to enhance its operations by acquiring new products and entering new markets. The directors of YouGov and Zapera believe that growth potential exists with the roll-out of YouGov's BrandIndex and Omnibus products into the Nordic region using Zapera's existing infrastructure and YouGov intend to continue Zapera's policy of geographic expansion into Northern Europe through organic growth and acquisitions.

Polimetrix

Polimetrix LogoPolimetrix Inc became part of the YouGov family on 22 December 2006 when YouGov acquired a 32% stake. On 7 August 2007 YouGov exercised its option under the terms of the original agreement to purchase the remaining 68% of Polimetrix Inc.

Polimetrix, based in Palo Alto, California with an additional office in Washington DC, has an approach to online polling, with emphasis on political and academic polling that the directors believe is similar to YouGov's when it was founded. The company has a panel of approximately 1m people in the US and Canada and is active in the public affairs, university and government sectors. Clients include universities such as Harvard University and Yale University and various political pollsters.

The directors believe that there is a strong cultural fit between Polimetrix and YouGov and intend to develop Polimetrix's operations to mirror those of YouGov following the acquisition. Polimetrix has been working to expand its service offerings to include consulting, brand research and market research and YouGov is currently working with the Polimetrix management team to develop the business into a multi service agency.
