HubSpot recently surveyed around 300 consumers to learn about their 2020 holiday shopping plans.
The survey found the majority (47%) of shoppers plan to do more online shopping this holiday season than last year, while around 33% of consumers still plan to shop in physical stores. However, consumers shopping in-store would be more cautious about social distancing norms. Additionally, 41% of respondents also reported to spend less money or buy fewer gifts than usual.
Around 14% of consumers would research products more heavily than usual before making any purchase. Only 8% of consumers said that the pandemic would not affect their holiday shopping plans.
Interestingly, the majority (34%) of consumers plan to do an even mix of online and in-store shopping. As some of these trends could continue in 2021, it is imperative for brands to consider these insights while designing their long-term marketing strategies.
