In May 2012 research conducted by YouGov InvestorView, we find that among cell phone owners, Verizon (VZ) customers are the most loyal of the Big 4 carriers, with 84% having no plans to change to a different carrier. For AT&T and T-Mobile, the story is not so good, as nearly 3 out of 10 AT&T (T) subscribers, and 4 out of 10 T-Mobile subscribers are looking to leave.

We believe, based on a deeper look at the data, that an equal proportion of high-value and low-value customers are planning on switching (there was no difference in switch rates for people with bills of $100 or more/month vs. $100 or less/month). Consequently, we expect AT&T and T-Mobile to suffer from declines in their mobile businesses over the coming 6-12 months.
