The messaging app Whatsapp now encrypts every message, photo, video, file and voice call sent by its users. This means no‑one apart from the sender and receiver can access them – including hackers, internet providers, governments or Whatsapp itself.
This makes it harder for law enforcement to intercept possibly dangerous communications, but increases privacy.
