Shoppers scan their smartphone upon entry, sensors and cameras register items that are taken and the shopper’s account is charged for them when they exit the store. Poor growing conditions in Europe have meant low stocks of some vegetables in British supermarkets – including lettuce, broccoli, courgettes and spinach. As a result, some supermarkets have taken to limiting the number of these vegetables customers can buy.
