Joel is Academic Director at YouGov and a polling researcher specialised in political behaviour. He is also a research associate at Cambridge University and life member of Clare Hall college. Joel has been a captain in the British Army, specialist reserves, focused on information operations. He has a doctorate and master's in international studies from Cambridge and an officer commission from Sandhurst Military Academy. His writing includes a forthcoming Penguin book, ‘The Secret Life of Public Opinion’, co-authored with YouGov founder and CEO, Stephan Shakespeare.
