The latest Economist / YouGov Poll finds widespread sympathies with Ukraine in its war with Russia, and majority support for providing Ukraine with the same or increased military support. Fewer Americans sympathize with the Israelis in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and more Americans oppose military aid for the Israelis than oppose aiding Ukraine.

Overall, 62% of Americans sympathize more with Ukraine, while 2% sympathize with Russia and 22% with neither side. 27% of Americans want to increase military aid to Ukraine, while 28% would maintain the same amount, 11% would decrease Ukraine aid and 11% would stop it entirely.

In recent months, the share of Americans who support maintaining the same amount of military aid to Ukraine has increased to 28% from 20%, while the shares who support either increasing Ukrainian aid, or decreasing or stopping it, have all gone down.

37% of Republicans want to decrease or stop military aid to Ukraine, down from 47% in December and a peak of 60% in March 2025. Less than 10% of Democrats want to decrease or stop aid to Ukraine, which is largely consistent with findings since YouGov began asking this question in 2022. Increases or decreases in overall support for cutting Ukraine aid among Americans has generally moved in sync with the share of Republicans who support this.

In the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, 29% of Americans sympathize more with the Israelis, while 24% sympathize more with the Palestinians and 21% about equally with both sides.

40% of Americans want to either decrease or stop military aid to Israel. 11% would increase military aid to Israel and 27% would maintain the same amount of aid.
