According to this week's Economist / YouGov Poll, about one-third (35%) of Americans strongly or somewhat approve of Donald Trump's job performance as president, and 61% disapprove. That's a net job approval of -26, up slightly from -29 last week.

Trump has maintained strong support from Republicans who are MAGA supporters. Among this group, which now makes up about half of Republicans, 95% approve of Trump and 4% disapprove, a +90 net job approval. The roughly one-third of Republicans who say they're not MAGA supporters, in contrast, are more closely divided in their views of Trump: 59% approve of Trump and 40% disapprove (+19 net approval). Overall, 80% of Republicans approve of Trump and 18% disapprove. That's a net job approval of +63 among Republicans, down from +91 at the start of Trump's second term.

Disapproval of Trump is prevalent among Independents (21% approve and 74% disapprove) and almost unanimous among Democrats (4% vs. 93%).

While most MAGA supporters approve of Trump's overall job performance, Trump's support from MAGA supporters varies by issue. 66% of MAGA supporters — a group that includes non-Republicans who say they support MAGA — strongly approve and 21% somewhat approve of how Trump is handling the military. That's similar to the 64% who strongly approve and 27% who somewhat approve of Trump's overall job handling.

But the share of MAGA supporters who strongly approve is lower for Trump's handling of other issues, such as tariffs (50%), Iran (49%), foreign policy (48%), Israel (48%), and Cuba (38%). More specifically, only 27% of MAGA supporters strongly approve of Trump having a personal investment in cryptocurrency while serving as president, and only 24% strongly approve of Trump and his family doing business with foreign countries while president.

Democrats have widened their advantage in the race for Congress. 46% of registered voters say they will vote for the Democratic candidate in the November elections and 39% will vote for the Republican candidate. That 7-point Democratic advantage is tied for the largest in any Economist / YouGov poll this election cycle, equal to the Democrats' mid-February lead.

Even as Democrats match their recent high for their lead in the race, their lead is even larger among the registered voters who are most enthusiastic about voting in the November congressional elections. 34% of registered voters say they're extremely enthusiastic about voting, and Democrats have a 23-point lead among this group: 60% of this group say they would vote for Democratic candidates and 37% for Republican candidates.

The 19% of registered voters who are very enthusiastic about voting are closely split: 46% support Democrats and 44% support Republicans. Meanwhile, Republicans lead among the 22% of registered voters who are somewhat enthusiastic (39% backing Democrats and 46% supporting Republicans) and the 16% who are not too enthusiastic (32% vs. 35%). The 8% of registered voters who say they're not at all enthusiastic about voting lean slightly to Democrats (31% vs. 26%).
