Americans' approval of Donald Trump's job performance continues to decline, according to the July 25 - 27 Economist / YouGov Poll. 34% of U.S. adult citizens strongly or somewhat approve of Trump's job performance, tied for a record low for either Trump term, while a record 62% disapprove. That's a net job approval of -28, also a record low.

At this point in Trump's first term, he had a net job approval of -9.

Trump's popularity is falling among several groups that had been core parts of his base. Among 45- to 64-year-olds, 33% approve and 63% disapprove, for a net disapproval of -29 — a new low for Trump among this group, and down from +15 at the start of Trump's second term.

Among white Americans without college degrees, 43% approve of Trump and 52% disapprove. Over the past three polls, Trump has averaged a net job approval of -6 with this group, the lowest three-week average he's ever received from them. For the first three weeks of Trump's term, he averaged a +27 net approval among whites with no college degree. Trump's three-week average net approval among all whites also is at a new low, of -14.

Trump has also lost support among Republicans who say they're not MAGA supporters. While almost all MAGA Republicans still back Trump (+89 net job approval), non-MAGA Republicans are closely divided, with 55% approving and 43% disapproving for a net approval of +12. That's down sharply from +84 at the start of Trump's second term. Trump's net approval among Independents has fallen during his second term to -53, a new low for him, from -4 at the start of the term.

Only 30% of Americans strongly or somewhat approve of how Trump is handling global trade, while 59% disapprove, a net issue approval of -29. Net approval also is low for Trump tariffs: -29 overall, -24 for recent tariffs specifically imposed on countries Trump's administration accuses of failing to crack down on the use of forced labor, and -20 for tariffs on certain Chinese products.
