Americans roundly reject CIA intervention to cut potentially embarrassing scenes from movies.

A memo recently emerged showing that the CIA pressured the director and screenwriter of the film 'Zero Dark Thirty' not to include certain scenes in the final film. The scenes cut included one where CIA agents fired AK-47s into the air during a party and another where dogs were used in the interrogation of a detainee.

The latest YouGov research shows that 63% of Americans believe that it is unacceptable for the CIA to apply this pressure, while only 17% say that it was acceptable. Responses were similar across all demographic groups.

The US Senate Intelligence Committee did launch an investigation of the relationship between the CIA and the producers of Zero Dark Thirty in January of this year but called it off within weeks.
