Blue is clearly America's favorite color, while brown and orange are the most disliked colors

The psychology of color reveals some of the more primordial aspects of human nature. Across most societies, certain colors evoke certain emotions on the part of people. Blue is widely seen as a 'spiritual' or 'calming' color, except in India where blue is seen as the color of athleticism. Everywhere around the world red is a muscular color, representing passion in the west, fortune in the Far East, and evil in the Middle East.

The latest research from YouGov shows that blue is by far America's most popular color. 34% of Americans say that they like blue the most, followed by 13% of people who say that they like red and 12% who opt for green. Brown is the country's least favorite color, chosen by 19% of people, while 16% join in on the rejection of 70s interior decorating by saying that orange is their least favorite color. Yellow (11% to 4%) and white (4% to 7%) join brown and orange as being colors that people tend to say are their least favorite rather than favorite colors.
