We recently asked over 1,800 TeenVoices across America what was most important to them. The top five answers were no surprise - friends, family, school, music and money/work. What surprised us were the results from a different question in the study - "if you were on an island for the rest of your life and could only bring one book to read, what book would you bring?"

This was a completely unaided, open-ended question where TeenVoices were free to enter anything they desired. While we received a variety of answers, there were some clear winners.

Taking the top spot was the Twilight series and with the popularity of the vampire-based books and movies this was somewhat expected. With that in mind, one might expect the Harry Potter series to be close to the top of the list. The well-known books about the wizard with a scar ranked very high in the results, but only climbed high enough to grab third place.

Sandwiched in between vampires and wizards to take the number two spot was another book with some supernatural characters - the Bible. While we're not going to delve into a deep religious discussion here, this is a very interesting finding when you consider the current landscape of American society.

We also want to share a set of clever answers that nabbing fourth place that we simply call "Books about island survival". Our favorite title for this group - How to Survive on a Deserted Island For Life...For Dummies. Thank you to all our TeenVoices who participated.
