As summer draws to a close there are only a few weeks left for Britons to enjoy sitting in a sunny beer garden in the evening with a drink. But which brands are UK consumers most likely to consider, and how do preferences differ around the country? YouGov BrandIndex data shows the brands consumers consider when they are next in the market to purchase beer or cider and which names over-index across individual regions.
Guinness is the UK’s most considered beer and cider brand
Across the UK, Guinness ranks first for Consideration among beer and cider brands, with 27% of UK adults saying they would consider purchasing it.
Peroni follows in second place at 23%, while Birra Moretti ranks third at 20%. Cider brand Kopparberg takes fourth place with a Consideration score of 18%, ahead of San Miguel at 17%.
Thatchers is the second cider brand to feature in the top 10, ranking sixth at 16%. Corona (15%), Stella Artois (15%), Heineken (13%) and Rekorderlig (12%) complete the national ranking.
Regional standouts: Which beer and cider brands over-index across the UK?
While the national ranking shows which beer and cider brands have the highest Consideration overall, the regional data identifies the brand in each region whose Consideration over-indexes most compared with the UK average.
Kopparberg is the top over-indexing brand in the North East, while Estrella Damm holds that position in the North West and Cruzcampo in Yorkshire and the Humber.
In the Midlands, Old Mout over-indexes most in the East Midlands and Carling in the West Midlands. Aspall stands out in the East of England, while Camden Town Brewery is the top over-indexing brand in the South East and Heineken in London.

Thatchers stands out across two regions
Thatchers is the only brand to be the top over-indexing brand in two regions, with Consideration standing out relative to the national average in both the South West and Wales.
Elsewhere, Tennent’s Lager is the top over-indexing brand in Scotland, while Guinness holds that position in Northern Ireland.
The regional findings highlight where particular brands have a stronger regional presence compared to the national average.
Methodology: YouGov BrandIndex tracks daily perceptions of thousands of brands. Rankings are based on the Consideration question: “When you are in the market next to purchase beer or cider, from which of the following would you consider purchasing?”. Scores are reported as [net scores from –100 to +100 / percentages], based on daily UK surveys weighted by age, gender, region, social grade, and ethnicity. Figures cover the period July 2025 – June 2026 with sample size ranging from 638 to 28,072.
The brands are ranked by the difference in consideration between the regional score and Nat rep. All scores are rounded to one decimal place. For brands with the same change in score, ranking is based on the higher consideration score in 2026.
