Times stirred by waves of challenges from energy costs to radicalising climate have varing level of acuteness across Europe, are shaping coping behaviors. Most coping practices are universally important - top 2 practices are cheking prices 53% and acute attention to promotions (46% in Ukraine and 47% across all CEE).

And surely there are local specifics, as Ukrainian economic reality experiences influences from mindful consumers going for national/local products 32% and avoiding certain brands from one side 32% (versus 29% on CEE in total), and practice of stockpiling from the other (31% vs 27%), same time not excluding buying for others and sefl-reward.

Home cooking and cutting down the food waste being culturally adherent to Ukraine are less pronounced in intention, than in CEE total.

So while in general overview Ukrainian consumers preferred shopping practices are aligning with CEEs in total, and there are specifics, the most saliently ‘Ukrainian’ practice, more notably local than others is stockpiling.

58% of Ukrainian households already have strategic food stockpiles at home. Another 26% plan to create them. In total, 84% of Ukrainians have either already formed reserves or intend to do so. Only 16% see no need for this.
