Public support for: Britain having a closer relationship with the European Union, without rejoining the European Union, the Single Market, or the Customs Union
Support: 62% Opposition: 19%
Net support: +43
The latest level of support for a closer relationship with the European Union – without actually rejoining the bloc, the Single Market or Customs Union – compares to 63% when we started asking about this scenario in July 2024 (other scenarios date back slightly earlier, to January 2024).
This is the most supported option among the general public, Leave voters, and 2024 Conservative voters.
Among Leave voters, 57% support a closer relationship without rejoining.

Support: 54% Opposition: 34%
Net support: +20
The latest level of support for rejoining the European Union compares to 51% when we started asking this question format in January 2024.
This is the most supported option among Remain voters, 2024 Labour voters, 2024 Lib Dem voters, and 2024 Green voters.
Among those who voted to leave the European Union in 2016, 21% now support rejoining.
It is worth noting, however, that separate YouGov research has shown that the public are net opposed to rejoining the EU if the UK could not keep its previous opt-outs.

Support: 33% Opposition: 46%
Net support: -13
The latest level of support for maintaining the status quo in our relationship with the EU compares to 31% when we started asking this question format in January 2024.
This is the most supported option among no group surveyed (on a net support basis).
Among those who voted to leave the European Union in 2016, 45% support the status quo.
Public support for: Britain further loosening ties with the European Union
Support: 21% Opposition: 64%
Net support: -43
The latest level of support for further loosening ties with the European Union compares to 28% when we started asking this question format in January 2024.
This is the most supported option among 2024 Reform UK voters.
Among those who voted to leave the European Union in 2016, 43% support loosening links still further.
