YouGov’s AI-powered news tracker series shows which single story Britons heard the most about

Our news tracker asks the public to tell us, in their own words, which one news story they had heard most about in recent days. The results are then categorised by our AI topic model into the categories below.

Over the last week, the biggest story has been the ongoing natural disasters in Nepal, which was the most memorable headline for 42% of Britons. Our poll, conducted on 31 August - 1 September, also finds that the public's attention was grabbed by the untimely passing of Dolly Parton (top story for 6%), and the Middlesbrough wrong-way motorway crashes (5%).
