YouGov European tracker series looks at the popularity of the leaders of Britain, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy and Spain

Keir Starmer – United Kingdom

March’s tracker poll found that 20% of Britons had a favourable opinion of Keir Starmer and 73% had an unfavourable opinion.

These scores are within the margin of error of those for February’s survey, and therefore represent little change.

Emmanuel Macron – France

March’s tracker poll found that 19% of French people had a favourable opinion of Emmanuel Macron and 76% had an unfavourable opinion.

These scores are within the margin of error of those for February’s survey, and therefore represent little change.

Friedrich Merz – Germany

March’s tracker poll found that 26% of Germans had a favourable opinion of Friedrich Merz and 69% had an unfavourable opinion.

This represents a slight increase in popularity since February’s survey, with the number of Germans holding a favourable view slightly higher and the number with an unfavourable view remaining largely the same.

Giorgia Meloni – Italy

March’s tracker poll found that 34% of Italians had a favourable opinion of Giorgia Meloni and 57% had an unfavourable opinion.

These scores are within the margin of error of those for February’s survey, and therefore represent little change.

Pedro Sánchez – Spain

March’s tracker poll found that 35% of Spaniards had a favourable opinion of Pedro Sánchez and 61% had an unfavourable opinion.

This represents a notable change in popularity since February’s survey, with the number of Spaniards holding a favourable view remaining largely the same and the number with an unfavourable view notably lower.

Mette Frederiksen – Denmark

March’s tracker poll found that 43% of Danes had a favourable opinion of Mette Frederiksen and 53% had an unfavourable opinion.

These scores are within the margin of error of those for February’s survey, and therefore represent little change - please note that this survey was conducted from 16-25 March, coinciding with the general election on 24 March.
