The study was conducted among 300 executives from companies with more than 1,000 employees each.

This piece says that over a third of executives don’t have a good understanding of what PR function does within their business. The report states that only 15% of respondents think that communication is among their top five strongest suits.

While the perceived value of PR improves by professional seniority of the participant, almost 20% of executives aren’t aware that PR stands for public relations. But, larger companies tend to have a lower understanding of PR’s function.

80% of participants who had a good understanding of PR thinks that it delivers good value to their business. CEO of H+K UK, Simon Whitehead says that it is necessary to educate business executives, at every level in every industry, about the value of PR.
