India's hotel market is being shaped by rising travel demand, growing hotel supply and a widening range of choices for consumers. Against that backdrop, YouGov's India hotel rankings 2026 look at which hotel brands people would consider when they are likely to book hotels in the next year.
The rankings focus on Consideration among urban Indians who say they are likely to book a hotel in the next 12 months and also which brands gained most in year-on-year Consideration scores.
In this article, we cover:
- Top 10 hotel brands by Consideration among urban India adults likely to book hotels
- Top 5 hotel brands with the biggest year-over-year gains in Consideration
- Where to find deeper hotel brand data and competitor benchmarks
- Methodology behind the rankings
Taj Hotels & Palaces leads hotel consideration
Taj Hotels & Palaces ranks first, with 23.9% of India adults likely to book hotels saying they would consider purchasing from or using the brand. ITC Hotels follows at 20.0%, while Marriott ranks third at 17.9%.
Hyatt takes fourth place at 16.3%, followed by Hilton at 13.5% and Oberoi at 11.8%. The Leela, Le Meridien, Four Seasons and Vivanta complete the top 10. The gap between the first and fifth ranked brands is 10.4 percentage points.
The rankings shows how hotel choices in India span established Indian hospitality brands and global hotel groups.
Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt show the strongest momentum
The year-over-year movement table tells a different part of the story. Marriott records the largest gain among hotel brands, with Consideration rising by 4.5 percentage points from the previous year. Hilton follows with a 4.0-point gain, while Hyatt increases by 3.2 points.
ITC Hotels also posts positive movement, up 2.3 points, while The Leela rounds out the top five with a 2.2-point gain.
The current leaders and the biggest improvers are not the same. Taj Hotels & Palaces leads overall, but the largest gains are concentrated among major international hotel groups.
For marketers and professionals, that distinction is useful. A brand can lead because it already has a broad base of familiarity and relevance; it can also gain ground because more travelers are adding it to their shortlist. When both patterns appear together, the brand’s position is worth watching more closely.
